Continuation in this academic plan requires a cumulative average of 60% and a cumulative Spanish average of 70%.
Eligibility for graduation in the Four-Year General Spanish academic plan includes successful fulfillment of the following requirements:
- Appropriate Program-level requirements. See Bachelor of Arts Degree Requirements.
- Spanish Plan-level requirements:
- at least eight academic course units (16 courses) in Spanish with a minimum cumulative average of 70%, including:
- SPAN 201A, 201B, 210, 222W (see Laurier calendar), 223W (see Laurier calendar), 227, 228, 301A, 301B, 401A, 401B
- one of SPAN 326, 327W (see Laurier calendar)
- one of SPAN 400, 410, 418, 430, 446W (see Laurier calendar), 465W (see Laurier calendar), 497
Notes:
- If any required courses are waived for students with advanced language skills, they must be replaced with SPAN electives.
- By agreement, students at the University of Waterloo and Wilfrid Laurier University can be expected to take courses in Spanish at either university. While most language courses are taught concurrently every year at both universities, most other courses are taught either at one university or the other, and a few courses may rotate from year to year.
- With the permission of the Department, students may spend the third year enrolled in an acceptable university in Spain or Latin America.
