Students enrolled in any degree program may pursue a minor designation in German.
The German Minor requires successful completion of a minimum of four academic course units (eight courses) in German or German approved courses with a minimum cumulative average of 65%, including:
- six GER courses
- no more than two GER or German approved courses taught in the English language may be counted toward the German Minor
- no more than two German approved courses: APPLS 301; DUTCH 101, 102, 201, 202; ENGL 218; FINE 112; HIST 223, 247, 265, 341, 358; MUSIC 254, 255, 260, 261; PSCI 321; RS 211, 272
Notes:
- A number of German language courses can be taken concurrently, e.g. GER 201 and GER 211; GER 202 and GER 212.
- Students may be able to substitute courses taken at other institutions (e.g., Wilfrid Laurier University) for the elective courses offered at the University of Waterloo. Contact the undergraduate officer for details.
