Upper-Year Bursaries and Awards

Upper-Year Bursaries and Awards

These awards are based primarily on financial need and may include other selection criteria such as extracurricular involvement, leadership, etc. Specific criteria is noted in the award descriptions found under each of the Faculty categories below.

General information for applicants:

  • NEW! Ontario students who have applied for OSAP may not need to apply for a bursary. The Student Awards and Financial Aid Office (SAFA) now uses information from the OSAP file and the Student system at UW to automatically calculate bursary eligibility. The SAFA Office will contact students, normally by email, to let them know if they qualify. This process takes place prior to the study term or at the beginning of the study term. Students who do not qualify for bursary assistance based on this initial assessment may still submit an application form. Students who wish to appeal a decision may also submit an application. Please visit the SAFA website at http://safa.uwaterloo.ca/ for the most current information on the University of Waterloo bursary program.
  • Out-of-province students, part-time students, international students, and students interested in being considered for a special, named bursary, are invited to submit a bursary application. Bursary applications may be accessed from the SAFA website at http://safa.uwaterloo.ca/.
  • Normally, applicants need complete only one application form to be considered for most bursaries, unless a special application is required.
  • Always refer to the individual award description for any restrictions or requirements.
  • Bursary candidates must be in acceptable academic standing. Some bursaries and awards require a higher academic standing.
  • Incomplete applications will disqualify you from consideration. Please read the application carefully.

June 15th - for Spring term
October 15th - for Fall term only (co-op students)
