Robert Brown Award in Actuarial Science
An award, valued at up to $2,500, is presented annually to a full-time undergraduate student enrolled in Year Two, Three, or Four in the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science in the Faculty of Mathematics. The recipient must have a minimum overall average of 75%, and have demonstrated financial need as determined by Waterloo. To be considered, students must complete the Full-Time Bursary/Award Application. This fund is made possible by donations from friends and colleagues of Robert Brown, in honour of his many contributions to the study and practice of actuarial science, and to ensure the brightest students choose to study actuarial science at the University of Waterloo.
Certified Management Accountant Bursary
The Grand River Chapter of the Society of Management Accountants of Ontario has established a bursary fund for full-time students registered in Mathematics/Business Administration or Mathematics/Chartered Professional Accountancy. Preference will be given to students who attended high school in the counties of Perth, Waterloo, or Wellington. An application is required by October 15, February 15, or June 15.
Franklin B. Dana Memorial Bursary
The Franklin B. Dana Memorial Bursary has been established to provide financial assistance to Actuarial Science students who have proven financial need. Bursaries, ranging from $500 to $1,200, will be awarded to full-time undergraduate students enrolled in second, third, or fourth year who have attained good academic standing. Eligible students must have resided in Ontario for 12 months prior to the beginning of their post-secondary education.
Emco Limited Bursary
Emco Limited has established a bursary program available to upper-year students in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, and Electrical Engineering.
L. Gail Knight Mathematics Bursary
A fund has been established to honour L. Gail Knight, an alumnus of the Faculty of Mathematics, and is made possible through donations from Albert Knight and matching donations from Merck & Co., Inc., and the Ontario Provincial Government. The fund will provide bursary assistance to academically qualified undergraduate students experiencing financial difficulties in the Faculty of Mathematics. Eligible students must have resided in Ontario for 12 months prior to the beginning of their post-secondary education.
Mathematics Undergraduate Student Opportunity Award
Numerous awards are provided annually to support undergraduate students experiencing financial difficulties. The fund is made possible by donations from interested donors and by a matching grant from the province of Ontario. Eligible students must have resided in Ontario for 12 months prior to the beginning of their post-secondary education.
Helene and Ray McLenaghan Award
One award, valued at up to $1,200, is provided annually to an outstanding undergraduate student entering third or fourth year in French Studies or Applied Mathematics. The recipient must have a minimum overall average of 75%, proven community involvement, and demonstrated financial need. This award is made possible by a donation from Dr. Helene McLenaghan (Language Instructor, French Studies) and Dr. Ray McLenaghan (Professor Emeritus, Applied Math). An application is required by October 15.
Natural Log Bursary
A bursary fund has been established by the Math Society for undergraduate Mathematics students. Special consideration is given to students who have been involved in extracurricular activities. A minimum overall average of 60% is required, as well as a demonstrated need.
A.F. (Tony) Pickard Memorial Award
One award, valued at $150, has been established in memory of A.F. (Tony) Pickard, former Research Co-ordinator, Applied Analysis and Computer Science, at the University of Waterloo. Undergraduates enrolled in the Faculty of Mathematics who have an active interest in Computer Science and show academic promise combined with financial need may apply for this award.

The fund will provide bursary assistance to academically qualified undergraduate students experiencing financial difficulties in the Faculty of Mathematics. Eligible students must have resided in Ontario for 12 months prior to the beginning of their post-secondary education.
Rosemary and Ken Taylor Bursary Fund
Bursaries, valued at up to $3,000, may be awarded annually to undergraduate Mathematics or Science students enrolled in Year Two or Three who have demonstrated financial need and have maintained a 70% overall average. Preference will be given to students who are majoring in Computer Science. This fund is made possible by a donation from Rosemary and Ken Taylor to recognize students who encounter financial difficulties that could prevent them from completing their studies.
Wescast Industries Continuous Learning Award
An annual award, valued at $1,000, has been established by Wescast Industries Ltd., to recognize academic performance and financial need among students in Accounting and Engineering. To be eligible, candidates must have maintained a 75% minimum overall average.
