All of the following are awards for work-term reports judged best for writing skills. The technical content of the report is important but not the most important factor. The awards are made each term and the winners will be determined by Co-operative Education and Career Action in consultation with the appropriate academic department. Reports considered confidential are not eligible. An application is not required for consideration. Specific criteria is noted within each award description below.
Computational Science Work-Report Award
One award, valued at $100, may be presented annually to an Honours Co-op Computational Science student in the Faculty of Science, recognizing an exemplary work term report.
Dean of Arts Work-Term Report Awards
Two awards of $100 each may be provided each semester for the best work reports in the Faculty of Arts by a junior and senior student.
George J. Dufault Awards
The George Dufault Awards are provided from a fund established by the Sandford Fleming Foundation from contributions made by faculty, staff, students, and friends in memory of the late Professor George Dufault of the Department of Electrical Engineering. Awards of $300 each may be presented to undergraduate students in Electrical and/or Computer Engineering. Up to four awards are given in each calendar year.
Faculty of Environment Work-Report Awards
Several awards of $100 each may be presented for the best work reports in the Faculty of Environment.
Sandford Fleming Foundation Awards
Several awards of $300 each may be presented to second-, third-, and fourth-year students in the Faculty of Engineering.
Sir Casimir Stanislaus Gzowski Awards for Work-Report Proficiency
One or more awards of $300 each may be presented to Civil Engineering students.
Nova Chemicals (Canada) Ltd. Awards
Two awards of $300 each, may be presented to Chemical Engineering students.
O'Connor Associates Environmental Inc. Award
One award of $100 may be presented annually to an Earth Sciences student in the Faculty of Science.
Walter Runge Award
One award of $300 may be presented to a student in the Faculty of Engineering.
Society of Management Accountants of Ontario Awards
Three awards of $100 each to second-, third-, or fourth-year students in Accounting and Financial Management in the Faculty of Arts.
Waterloo-Wellington Chartered Accountants Association Work-Term Report Awards
Up to six awards, valued at $100 each, may be presented to second-, third-, or fourth-year students enrolled in Accounting and Financial Management, Mathematics/Chartered Professional Accountancy, or Biotechnology/Chartered Professional Accountancy.
Xerox Research Centre of Canada Limited Awards
Three awards of $100 each may be presented to second-, third-, or fourth-year Physics students in the Faculty of Science.
