Sexuality, Marriage, and Family Studies Minor |

Students enrolled in any degree program may pursue a minor designation in Sexuality, Marriage, and Family Studies.
The Sexuality, Marriage, and Family Studies Minor requires successful completion of a minimum of four academic course units (eight courses) in SMF and Sexuality, Marriage, and Family Studies approved courses with a minimum cumulative average of 65%, including:
- SMF 206, SMF 207, SMF 310
- one of SMF 204, PSYCH 236
- one of SMF 317/HIST 317, SMF 318/HIST 318, SMF 319 (see Note 2)
- three additional courses from the following SMF and Sexuality, Marriage, and Family Studies approved courses, including one at the 300-level or above:
- one of ENGL 108E/WS 108E, ENGL 208C, ENGL 208E/WS 208E, ENGL 208N, ENGL 217, HIST 213, HIST 277, HIST 313, ITALST 111, JS 120/RS 111, PHIL 201, PHIL 202/WS 222, PHIL 210J, PHIL 219J, PHIL 318J, RS 150, RS 180, RS 254, RS 324, RS 325/WS 320
- ANTH 261, FINE 262/WS 262, GERON 220/HLTH 220, PSYCH 235, PSYCH 318, SDS 353R, SDS 354R, SMF 208, SMF 220, SMF 230, SMF 301, SMF 304, SMF 305, SMF 306, SMF 307, SMF 308, SMF 309, SMF 365, SMF 366, SMF 367, SOC 200, SOC 275, SOC 325, SOC 355J, SOC 369J, SOC 206/WS 209, SOCWK 321R/SWREN 321R; no more than one of SOCWK 355R, SOCWK 357R, SOCWK 390A, SOCWK 390B; WS 101
Notes
- Students are encouraged to make note of course prerequisites and discuss their Sexuality, Marriage, and Family Studies (SMF) plan and course progression with the SMF academic advisor.
- Students should plan to take an introductory HIST course prior to 3A to ensure requisites are met for SMF 317/HIST 317, SMF 318/HIST 318, or SMF 319.
- No one course may fulfill more than one requirement within any Sexuality, Marriage, and Family Studies plan.
