Arts Academic Plans

Fine Arts

Honours Fine Arts (Arts and Business Co-op and Regular)

Students may combine the Honours Fine Arts academic plan with Arts and Business.

Continuation in this academic plan requires a cumulative overall average of 60% and a cumulative Fine Arts average of 75%.

Eligibility for graduation in the Honours Fine Arts (Arts and Business Co-op and Regular) academic plan (Studio Specialization, Art History Specialization or Film Studies Specialization) requires successful fulfilment of the following requirements:

  1. Appropriate BA Program-level requirements. See "Bachelor of Arts."
  2. Fine Arts Plan-Level requirements:
    For the different specializations, the required courses are as follows:

    Studio Specialization:
    • at least eight academic course units (16 courses) in Fine Arts with a minimum cumulative average of 75%, including:
      • FINE 110, 112, 120, 121, 209, 319
      • four of FINE 220 or 221; 222 or 223; 224 or 225; 226A or 226B; 228 or 229
      • two additional Art History courses
      • two Studio courses at the 300-level
        Note: most 300-level courses have very specific prerequisites - see Fine Arts course descriptions for information.
      • FINE 461 (worth 1.0 units)
        Fine Arts Studio majors should bear in mind that their area of concentration in FINE 461 (painting, sculpture, drawing, printmaking, etc.) must be one in which they have completed both 200-level courses and at least one 300-level course in their chosen subject area.

    Art History Specialization: 
    • at least eight academic course units (16 courses) in Fine Arts with a minimum cumulative average of 75%, including:
      • FINE 110, 112, 120, 121, 209, 396496, 497
      • six additional Art History courses, two of which must be from the 300-level
      • two additional Studio courses

    Film Studies Specialization:
    All prospective Film Studies majors and minors need permission from the Fine Arts Film advisor to register in Film Studies. Current Film Studies majors and minors should consult with the Fine Arts Film advisor about their program schedule.
