Chemistry

Honours Co-operative Geochemistry
Advisors : Drs. C. Bissonnette (Chemistry) and S. Frape (Earth Sciences)

Continuance in Honours Co-operative Geochemistry requires a cumulative overall average of at least 60% and an average of at least 60% in all Chemistry and Earth Science courses.

In order to graduate with an Honours Geochemistry degree, the following requirements must be completed successfully:

  1. 19.0 lecture units, 3.25 laboratory units and a research project and thesis (1.0 unit).
  2. Mandatory courses as listed below.
  3. Three Chemistry and three Earth Sciences technical electives chosen from CHEM 313, CHEM 350, CHEM 420, CHEM 450; EARTH 421, EARTH 456, EARTH 458, EARTH 459. Substitutions may be made with the approval of the Undergraduate Advisors.
  4. Seven freely chosen courses (3.5 units). Recommended are BIOL 240, BIOL 241; ENGL 210E; ENVS 195, ENVS 201; GEOG 201, GEOG 303; MATH 106 or MATH 114, MATH 217, MATH 227.
  5. A minimum of four work terms and submission of a minimum of four satisfactory work reports.
  6. Normally, full-time enrolment in Years Two, Three and Four.
  7. No more than 3.0 "SCI-labelled" units will be allowed toward this Academic Plan.
  8. Completion of the English Language Proficiency requirement.
