Joint Honours Social Development Studies

A Joint Honours academic plan with Social Development Studies may be taken in combination with most Arts disciplines in which an Honours academic plan is offered or with many Honours majors in other Faculties.

Continuation in this academic plan requires a cumulative overall average of 60% and a cumulative Social Development Studies average of 75%.

Eligibility for graduation in the Joint Honours Social Development Studies academic plan typically includes successful fulfillment of the following requirements (variations may occur depending on the other discipline being considered):

  1. Appropriate Program-level requirements for the Home Faculty, including at least 20 academic course units (40 courses). If the Home Faculty is Arts, see Bachelor of Arts Degree Requirements.
  2. Social Development Studies Plan-level requirements:
  3. Plan-level requirements for the second major.

Notes:

  1. The total number of courses required for a Joint Honours academic plan will vary according to the number of courses required for the major being combined with Social Development Studies.
  2. Course selection for a Joint Honours academic plan with Social Development Studies should only be made after consultation with your Renison academic advisor.
  3. Subject to approval by both departments, the equivalent courses to SDS 250R and 251R may be taken in the other discipline. If such replacement occurs, sufficient Social Development Studies courses must be taken to meet the 16 course minimum requirement.
  4. For further information regarding any of the academic plans, consult the Registrar's Office, Renison University College, Waterloo, Ontario N2L 3G4, or contact ren-reg@uwaterloo.ca.
