This program offers students more flexibility to design the course content of their curriculum than other Earth Sciences specializations. Its focus is to ensure the basic quantitative background in science and mathematics, while providing students greater opportunity to select courses in a wide range of environment-related subject areas, such as ecology, microbiology, geography and hydrogeology. Students will acquire the knowledge base required to assess the environmental impact of surface and subsurface contamination from industry, agriculture and mining. Graduates will be prepared for employment anywhere where environmental issues and legislation are relevant, particularly in government and the environmental consulting industry. In addition to the requirements for all Honours Earth Sciences Major Academic Plans, Honours Earth Sciences/Environmental Specialization students must maintain a 70% average in all GEOG/ENVS courses.
