This specialization in Women’s Studies, Science and Technology is designed for Women’s Studies majors wishing to learn about the main issues and questions about today’s science and technology in the context of gender based perspectives. The University of Waterloo is ideally equipped with numerous resources to offer this type of specialization stream. This specialization helps to link Women’s Studies with science and technology, rendering them more accessible as areas of study and activity. Entry to the specialization requires the approval of the Director of Women's Studies.
Eligibility for graduation in the Four-Year General Women's Studies, Science and Technology Specialization includes successful fulfilment of the following requirements.
- Appropriate BA Program-level requirements. See "Bachelor of Arts."
- Women's Studies Plan-level requirements:
- at least 12 academic course units (24 courses) in Women's Studies core, cross-listed, and approved courses, with a minimum cumulative average of 65%, including:
- WS 101, 102, 201, 202, 205, 207, 302
- one of WS 365, 475
- three Science and Society courses: PHIL/PSYCH 256; PHIL 258/SCI 267; PSYCH 207; SCI 263; STV 100
- three Technology and Society courses: MSCI 311; PACS 325; SOC 232, 345; STV 202, 205, 302
- ten additional courses from the list of Women's Studies core, cross-listed, and approved courses
