When courses are taken twice but passed once, both grades are included in average calculations regardless of whether the failure occurred on the first or subsequent registration. In such cases, both a credit and a failure are recorded.
In instances where a passed course is repeated, and passed again, the second attempt will typically not receive credit and will not count in the average.
In cases where the same course is failed twice, only some plans allow a third attempt. Fourth attempts are not permitted.
University of Waterloo regulations govern how many times a course can be counted across multiple plans. Students uncertain of the counting or repeating rules for their program/plan combination should contact an academic advisor.
