Continuation in this academic plan requires a minimum cumulative overall average of 60% and a minimum cumulative Economics major average of 65%.
Eligibility for graduation in the Four-Year General Economics academic plan includes successful completion of the following requirements:
- Appropriate program-level requirements. See Bachelor of Arts Degree Requirements.
- Economics plan-level requirements:
- a minimum cumulative Economics major average of 65%
- at least eight academic course units (16 courses) in Economics, including:
- ECON 101, ECON 102, ECON 211, ECON 221, ECON 290, ECON 306, ECON 322, ECON 323, ECON 391, ECON 393
- one of ECON 406, ECON 407, ECON 408, ECON 409
- five additional ECON courses at the 200-level or above, two of which must be at the 400-level
Notes
- ECON 201 does not fulfil Economics course requirements for any Economics major plan.
- It is recommended that students planning to major in Economics have Grade 12 courses in Mathematics, preferably Algebra and Geometry, and Calculus or the equivalent, i.e., Ontario Grade 12 U (university level) Advanced Functions and Introductory Calculus, or Ontario Grade 12 U (university level) Calculus and Vectors. Students without these courses are encouraged to select MATH 103 and MATH 104 in their first year of study at the University of Waterloo.
