Economics

Four-Year General Economics

Continuation in this academic plan requires a minimum cumulative overall average of 60% and a minimum cumulative Economics major average of 65%.

Eligibility for graduation in the Four-Year General Economics academic plan includes successful completion of the following requirements:

  1. Appropriate program-level requirements. See Bachelor of Arts Degree Requirements.
  2. Economics plan-level requirements:

  1. ECON 201 does not fulfil Economics course requirements for any Economics major plan.
  2. It is recommended that students planning to major in Economics have Grade 12 courses in Mathematics, preferably Algebra and Geometry, and Calculus or the equivalent, i.e., Ontario Grade 12 U (university level) Advanced Functions and Introductory Calculus, or Ontario Grade 12 U (university level) Calculus and Vectors. Students without these courses are encouraged to select MATH 103 and MATH 104 in their first year of study at the University of Waterloo.
