Course Information

Relevant Courses at Wilfrid Laurier University

Within the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences, courses taken at Wilfrid Laurier University will appear on University of Waterloo records as graded courses and will normally be included in the cumulative overall average only. If a Laurier course is specified in the major program requirements, the graded course may be included in both the cumulative overall average and the cumulative major average.

Maximum units for courses taken at Laurier that may be applied to the student transcript are:
  • Department of Kinesiology: 5.0 units (10 courses or equivalent)
  • Department of Recreation and Leisure Studies: 7.5 units (15 courses or equivalent)
  • School of Public Health and Health Systems: 5.0 units (10 courses or equivalent)

Notes

  1. Kinesiology students may count activity-based courses (taken at Laurier) toward their degree, to a maximum of 0.5 unit. Students should consult with Laurier regarding availability of these courses since enrolment is often limited.
  2. For all plans in Recreation and Leisure Studies, students may complete a maximum of 1.0 unit towards their degree as any four 0.25 unit Waterloo courses. This may include a maximum of two 0.25 unit university-level activity-based courses taken at another university (e.g., Laurier Kinesiology (KP) courses). Students may not count two 0.25 unit courses as a 0.5 unit restricted elective.
  3. On Waterloo's Schedule of Classes for Undergraduate Students, a "W" following the course number, e.g., BUS 121W, denotes a Laurier course. Enrolment in these courses is achieved using Quest. To enrol in a Laurier course that does not appear on the Schedule of Classes for Undergraduate Students, an Undergraduate Studies Cross-Registration Form is used. Further information regarding Waterloo students taking courses at Laurier is provided on the form.
