Students, including transfer students entering the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences, should fulfil the English Language Proficiency Requirement by the end of their 3A term.
Currently, this requirement may be fulfilled in one of the following ways:
- Write the English Language Proficiency Examination and achieve a grade of 60% or higher, OR
- Successful completion of a University of Waterloo English course with a grade of 60% or higher, OR successful completion of AHS 107. Acceptable University of Waterloo English courses include EMLS 102R, EMLS 129R, ENGL 109, ENGL 129R, and ENGL 140R.
Information regarding sittings of the English Language Proficiency Examination (ELPE) is available through the Writing Centre.
Note
A completed English Proficiency milestone on a student's academic record indicates successful completion of this requirement.
