Legend
* Electives
Of these four electives, one must be a business elective. Business electives are normally chosen from the following: ACTSC 231, ECON 211, ECON 220, ECON 361, ECON 372, HRM 200, HRM 301, MSCI 311, MSCI 432, STAT 231, STAT 333. HRM 200 and MSCI 311 are recommended. Students can emphasize finance in their program by electing and/or substituting the following set of courses in meeting the Business requirements: STAT 230, STAT 231, STAT 333, ACTSC 231, ECON 372.
Course sequencing and prerequisite information is available on the Science and Business website.
** Earth Electives
Of the 2.5 EARTH units, 1.5 units must be 300- or 400-level EARTH courses.
The high number of elective courses in Year 4 allow students an opportunity to specialize in a certain area of Earth Sciences such as Geology, Geophysics, or Hydrogeology. These three areas match the three degree specializations that are offered within the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences. Students interested in using their elective courses to specialize in one of these areas can refer to the course requirements for these programs to guide them in course selections, or consult with an Undergraduate Advisor.
Note
Other courses may be used as substitutes for particular required courses on approval of the Undergraduate Advisor. Students interested in selecting courses to fulfill the knowledge base requirements for membership in the Association of Professional Geoscientists of Ontario (APGO) should visit the APGO website to access the Minimum Knowledge (Academic) Requirements document.
