Students enrolled in any non- or post-degree academic plan may pursue the Diploma in Sexuality, Marriage, and Family Studies.
The Diploma in Sexuality, Marriage, and Family Studies requires successful completion of a minimum of five academic course units (ten courses) in SMF and Sexuality, Marriage, and Family Studies approved courses with a minimum cumulative average of 65%, including:
- SMF 101, SMF 310
- one of SMF 204, PSYCH 236
- one of SMF 205, SMF 207
- two of SMF 304, SMF 305, SMF 306, SMF 307, SMF 365, SMF 366, SMF 367, PSYCH 354/PSYCH 354R
- four additional courses, of which one must be at the 300-level or above:
- one of ENGL 108E/WS 108E, ENGL 208C, ENGL 208E/WS 208E, ENGL 208N, ENGL 217, FINE 262/WS 262, HIST 213, HIST 277/LS 237, HIST 313, ITALST 111, JS 120/RS 111, PHIL 201, PHIL 202/WS 222, PHIL 210J, PHIL 219J, PHIL 318J, RS 150, RS 180, RS 254, RS 325/WS 320
- three courses from:
- any additional SMF courses
- ANTH 261, GERON 320/HLTH 320, PSYCH 235, PSYCH 318, SDS 353R/LS 374, SDS 354R, SOC 200, SOC 206/WS 209, SOC 275, SOC 325/LS 325, SOC 355J, SOC 369J, SOCWK 321R/SWREN 321R, WS 101; no more than one of SOCWK 355R, SOCWK 357R, SOCWK 390A, SOCWK 390B
Notes
- Students are encouraged to make note of course prerequisites and discuss their Sexuality, Marriage, and Family Studies (SMF) plan and course progression with the SMF academic advisor.
- The SMF Diploma is intended to be pursued on a part-time basis with limited online course offerings.
- No one course may fulfill more than one requirement within any SMF plan.
