Arts Academic Plans

Continuation in this academic plan requires a cumulative average of 60%, a cumulative Economics average of 75%, and a cumulative Mathematics average of 60%. Both regular and co-operative versions of this plan are available.

Eligibility for graduation in the Honours Mathematical Economics academic plan includes successful fulfillment of the following requirements:

1. Appropriate Program-level requirements. See Bachelor of Arts Degree Requirements.
2. Economics Plan-level requirements:
   • at least seven academic course units (14 courses) in Economics with a minimum cumulative average of 75%, including:
     • ECON 101, ECON 102, ECON 201, ECON 202, ECON 301, ECON 302, ECON 371, ECON 401, ECON 402, ECON 421, ECON 472
     • three additional ECON courses at the 300-level or above
   • at least 6.5 course units (13 courses) in Mathematics with a minimum cumulative average of 60%, including:
     • Applied Linear Models: STAT 321 or STAT 331
     • Calculus:
       • one of MATH 127, MATH 137, MATH 147
       • one of MATH 128, MATH 138, MATH 148
       • one of MATH 207, MATH 237, MATH 247
     • Computer Science:
       • one of CS 115, CS 135, CS 145
       • one of CS 116, CS 136, CS 146
     • Differential Equations: AMATH 250 or AMATH 350
     • Linear Algebra:
       • one of MATH 106, MATH 136, MATH 146
       • one of MATH 225, MATH 235, MATH 245
     • Linear Optimization: one of CO 227, CO 250, CO 255
     • Probability: one of STAT 220, STAT 230, STAT 240
     • Statistics: one of STAT 221, STAT 231, STAT 241
     • one additional math course

Notes

1. Students must achieve a cumulative average of at least 75% in the 14 economics courses counted towards the degree and a cumulative average of 60% in the 13 math courses counted towards the degree.
2. For graduation and progression purposes, a student's averages will be calculated according to the practices of the faculty in which the student is formally registered. Should a student transfer from the Faculty of Mathematics to the Faculty of Arts (or vice versa), the student's average calculations may be revised to reflect the differing average calculation rules.
3. Students in any Economics academic plan are not eligible to take the Environment and Economics Minor.
