* Electives
Of these four electives, one must be a business elective. Business electives are normally chosen from the following: ACTSC 231, 446, ECON 220, 361, 372, HRM 200, 301, MSCI 311, 432, STAT 231, 333. HRM 200 and MSCI 311 are recommended. Students can emphasize finance in their program by electing and/or substituting the following set of courses in meeting the Business requirements: STAT 230, 231, 333, ACTSC 231, 446, ECON 372. Course sequencing and prerequisite information on available at the Science and Business website.
** Earth Electives
The high number of elective courses in Year 4 allow students an opportunity to specialize in a certain area of Earth Sciences such as Atmospheric, Environmental, Geology, Geophysics, or Hydrogeology. These five areas match the five degree specializations that are offered within the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences. Students interested in using their elective courses to specialize in one of these areas can refer to the course requirements for these programs to guide them in course selections, or consult with an Undergraduate Advisors.
Note
Other courses may be used as substitutes for particular required courses on approval of the Undergraduate Advisor. Students interested in selecting courses to fulfill the knowledge base requirements for membership in the Association of Professional Geoscientists of Ontario (APGO) should visit the APGO website to view the following document: www.apgo.net/files/minKnowledge.pdf.
