Recreation and Leisure Studies

Overview

The recreation and leisure studies degree contains a core of courses in leisure studies, research, and management. The Department of Recreation and Leisure Studies offers the following academic plans:

  • General Bachelor of Arts Recreation and Leisure Studies
  • Honours Bachelor of Arts Recreation and Leisure Studies
  • Honours Bachelor of Arts Recreation and Sport Business
  • Honours Bachelor of Arts Therapeutic Recreation
  • Honours Bachelor of Arts Tourism and Parks Management 
  • Double major in Honours Recreation and Sport Business, Therapeutic Recreation, and Tourism and Parks Management 

Note:

For all plans in recreation and leisure studies, students may complete a maximum of 1.0 unit towards their degree as any four 0.25 unit University of Waterloo courses. This may include a maximum of two 0.25 credit university level Activity courses taken at another university (e.g. Wilfrid Laurier University KPE courses). Students may not count two 0.25 unit courses as a 0.5 unit restricted elective.
