Continuation in this academic plan requires a cumulative overall average of 60% and a cumulative average of 65% in SMF and Sexuality, Marriage, and Family Studies approved courses.
Eligibility for graduation in the Three-Year General Sexuality, Marriage, and Family Studies academic plan includes successful fulfillment of the following requirements:
- Appropriate Program-level requirements. See Bachelor of Arts Degree Requirements.
- Sexuality, Marriage, and Family Studies Plan-level requirements:
- at least seven academic course units (14 courses) in SMF and Sexuality, Marriage, and Family Studies approved courses with a minimum cumulative average of 65%, including:
- SMF 205, 206, 207, 220, 230
- one of SMF 204; PSYCH 236
- one of SMF 304, 305, 365
- one of SMF 306, 307, 366; PSYCH 354/354R
- six approved courses from the following areas, taken in at least two different disciplines:
- Theory: two of DRAMA 397/FINE 378; PHIL 210J, 318J; PSYCH 318, 354/354R; SMF 208, 306, 308, 309, 311, 365, 366, 367; SOC 369J; SOCWK 321R
- Ethics: two of ENGL 208N; JS 120/RS 111; PHIL 219J; RS 150, 254; SDS 353R, 354R; SMF 310; SOC 355J
- Humanities: one of ENGL 108E, 208C, 208E, 217; HIST 213, 277, 313; ITALST 111; PHIL 201, 202; RS 180, 324, 325; SMF 317/HIST 317, SMF 318/HIST 318; SMF 319; WS 101
- Social Sciences: one of ANTH 261; GERON 220/HLTH 220; PSYCH 235; SMF 304, 305, 307, 308, 309, 311, 404, 406, 408; SOC 200, 209, 275, 325; SOC 206/WS 209; SOCWK 355R, 357R, 390A, 390B
Notes:
- Some of the required courses have prerequisites that students are recommended to take in their first year. Consult the calendar description for each course.
- Students are encouraged to discuss their electives with the Sexuality, Marriage, and Family Studies academic advisor.
- SMF 204 and PSYCH 236 are antirequisites; students are not permitted to take both courses for credit towards their degree.
- SMF 306 and PSYCH 354/354R are antirequisites; students are not permitted to take both courses for credit towards their degree.
- No one course may fulfill more than one requirement within any Sexuality, Marriage, and Family Studies plan.
