Arts Academic Plans

Students may combine the Honours Social Development Studies academic plan with Arts and Business.

Continuation in this academic plan requires a cumulative overall average of 60% and a cumulative Social Development Studies average of 75%.

Eligibility for graduation in the Honours Social Development Studies (Arts and Business Co-op and Regular) academic plan typically includes successful fulfillment of the following requirements (variations may occur depending on the other discipline being considered):

1. Appropriate BA Program-level requirements. See Bachelor of Arts.
2. Social Development Studies Plan-level requirements:
   • at least eight academic course units (16 courses) must be in Social Development Studies with a minimum cumulative average of 75%, including:
     • ISS 131R, 150R, 250R, 251R
     • PSYCH 121R, 220R 
     • SOC 120R
     • SOCWK 120R
     • four units (eight courses) from the 200-level or above, including at least 0.5 unit (one course) in three of the four different subject areas listed below, and at least 1.5 units (three courses) must be at the 400-level:
       • Interdisciplinary Social Science: ISS 131R, 150R, 205R, 215R, 220R, 240R, 250R, 251R, 311R, 312R, 350D, 350E, 350G, 350H, 351R, 370R, 375R, 398R, 399R, 400R, 415R, 420R, 425R, 450R, 490R, 495R, 496R, 499A/B
       • Psychology: PSYCH 121R, 212R, 213R, 220R, 221R, 222R, 312R, 322R, 323R, 334, 375R, 398R, 399R, 450R, 490R
       • Social Work: SOCWK 120R, 220R, 221R, 222R, 240R, 300R, 301R, 320R, 321R, 322R, 326R, 355R, 356R, 357R, 365R, 367R, 375R, 390A/B, 398R, 399R, 421R, 450R, 490R
       • Sociology: SOC 120R, 204, 207, 223, 224R, 375R, 398R, 399R, 450R, 490R
3. Arts and Business requirements.

Notes: 

1. For students in minor academic plans who do not have at least one course in statistics and one course in research, and especially those considering graduate studies in Social Work, ISS 250R and ISS 251R are strongly recommended.
