Arts Academic Plans

Continuation in this academic plan requires a cumulative overall average of 60% and a cumulative average of 65% in Italian Studies core and approved courses.

Eligibility for graduation in the Three-Year General Italian Studies academic plan includes successful fulfillment of the following requirements:

1. Appropriate BA Program-level requirements. See Bachelor of Arts.
2. Italian Studies Plan-level requirements:
   • at least six academic course units (12 courses) from the following set of Italian Studies core and approved courses, with a minimum cumulative average of 65%, including:
     • Italian Studies Core Courses
       1. four of ITAL 101, 102, 201, 202, 251; ITALST 291, 292; LAT 101 or 102
       2. five of (taught in English) ITALST 111, 260, 270, 271, 360; ITAL/ITALST 311, 312, 391, 392, 394*, 396, 397; ITAL/ITALST/WS 370 
     • Italian Studies Approved Courses
       • three of ARCH 247, 348, 446*, 448*, 449*; CLAS 205 (taken after spring 2009), 232; CLAS/FINE 242; CLAS/HIST 252; CLAS 390 (when offered in Italy); FINE 212, 213, 353; HIST 351 (with permission of Italian Studies); LAT 375; MUSIC 261

Notes:

1. Before each term, students should consult Italian Studies at St. Jerome's University, or the Undergraduate Calendar, to make their course selection.
2. ITAL/ITALST 311, 312, 391, 392, 396, 397, and ITAL/ITALST/WS 370 are offered in English as part of the three Italian Studies academic plans. However, students enrolled in these courses who are pursuing an Italian Language Minor will have additional contact time, in Italian, and will be required to do their readings and assignments in Italian. Such students will enrol in "ITAL" rather than in "ITALST."
