Applied Language Studies (APPLS) is an interdisciplinary area of study for those with a special interest in second (or foreign) language learning and teaching. It is especially appropriate for those considering careers in teaching, immigration and settlement, social work, social development studies, and immigration law.
Applied Language Studies is administered by Renison's English Language Institute in cooperation with the following participating UW Departments and Disciplines: Germanic and Slavic Studies, French Studies, Spanish and Latin American Studies, East Asian Studies, Italian Studies (St. Jerome's), Religious Studies, English, Anthropology, Classical Studies, Philosophy, Psychology, Sociology, Social Development Studies, and Drama and Speech Communication.
There are two different academic plans open to students participating in Applied Language Studies: 1) the Option and 2) the Diploma.
