Arts Academic Plans

The Applied Language Studies Option is available to students in degree studies at the University of Waterloo. The Applied Language Studies Option requires the successful completion of the following:

• At least five academic course units (ten courses) in APPLS Core, Approved Language, and Approved Applied Language Studies courses with a minimum cumulative average of 65%, including:
  • three APPLS Core Courses
  • four Approved Language Courses (all in one language that is not the student's first language, or two in each of two languages that are not the student's first language)
  • three Approved Applied Language Studies Courses

Note: No more than two courses may be double counted between Applied Language Studies and any other academic plans or subplans.
