Health Studies

Pre-Health Professions Option

This program combines the Honours BSc Health Studies degree requirements with a specified grouping of elective courses from Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Biology, Kinesiology, and Computer Science.

This Option is intended to provide suitable preparation for entry into medical school and other health professional schools, as well as for graduate study in health-related disciplines. However, students must consult the admission requirements of specific professional and graduate schools when choosing from the electives.

In order to graduate with this Option, the following requirements must be met:

  1. An overall cumulative average of 75% and a cumulative average of 75% in Health Studies courses.
  2. Successful completion of 21 units, including all the requirements of the Honours BSc Health Studies degree.
  3. Successful completion of 4 total units from the following list:
    CHEM 123/123L, 266/266L, 267/267L
    MATH 127, 128
    PHYS 111/111L, 112/112L
    BIOL 140, 241, 302, 303, 330 (only offered by Distance Education), 331, 373, 441, 442, 444
    KIN 100, 100L, 101, 105, 121, 205, 221, 242, 301, 340, 341

Pre-health streams are also offered by the Department of Kinesiology (Pre-Health Professions Option) and the Faculty of Science (Biomedical Sciences Major).
