This Option, available in either a Regular or Co-op system of study, combines the Honours Kinesiology degree and its emphasis on human applications, with specific requirements in Chemistry and elective opportunities. It is intended to allow an academic profile which may prepare students for potential study in medicine, podiatry, chiropractic, speech pathology, and physical or occupational therapy. It is also intended for the student whose interests develop into graduate study in the health disciplines. Students are urged to consult the admission requirements of the professional schools of interest to aid in their choice of electives. Overall and major cumulative averages of 75% are considered minimal to be competitive for application to study in the health professions. Admission and graduation requirements are listed below: - Cumulative overall and major averages of 75% are required to complete the Option.
- Students must complete 21 units, including all the requirements for the Honours Kinesiology degree.
- Students must complete the following 3 units: CHEM 120*, 120L*, 123*, 123L*, 266*, 266L*, 267*, 267L*.
- Students must complete 3.5 Kinesiology elective units.
- Students must complete 4.0 free elective units. See Pre-Health Professions Option advisors for suggested electives.
Pre-health streams are also offered by the Department of Health Studies and Gerontology (Pre-Health Professions Option) and the Faculty of Science (Biomedical Sciences Major).
