Three-Year General History
Continuation in this academic plan requires a cumulative overall average of at least 60% and a cumulative History average of at least 65%.
Eligibility for graduation in the Three-Year General History academic plan includes successful fulfilment of the following requirements:
- Appropriate BA Program-level requirements. See "BA Degree Requirements."
- History Plan-level requirements:
- at least five academic course units (ten courses) in History with a minimum cumulative average of 65%, including:
- no more than two HIST courses at the 100-level and at least two at the 300-level
Four-Year General History
Continuation in this academic plan requires a cumulative overall average of at least 60% and a cumulative History average of at least 65%.
Eligibility for graduation in the Four-Year General History academic plan includes successful fulfilment of the following requirements:
- Appropriate BA Program-level requirements. See "BA Degree Requirements."
- History Plan-level requirements:
- at least seven academic course units (14 courses) in History with a minimum cumulative average of 65%, including:
- no more than two HIST courses at the 100-level and at least four at the 300-level
Honours History
Continuation in this academic plan requires a cumulative overall average of at least 60% and a cumulative History average of at least 75%.
Eligibility for graduation in the Honours History academic plan includes successful fulfilment of the following requirements:
- Appropriate BA Program-level requirements. See "BA Degree Requirements."
- History Plan-level requirements:
- at least ten academic course units (20 courses) in History with a minimum cumulative average of 75%, including:
- one of HIST 262, 263, 264, 265
- one of HIST 253, 254
- one of HIST 257, 258
- at least three HIST courses at the 300-level, and no more than two at the 100-level
- at least three and no more than four HIST 400-level senior seminars (1.0 unit each)
Note: Students taking three senior seminars must take one with a B suffix. Students taking four senior seminars must take two with a B suffix.
Honours History (Arts and Business Co-op and Regular)
Students may combine an Honours History academic plan with Arts and Business co-op or regular. The requirements in History are identical to the Joint Honours requirements listed below, except that the minimum number of required academic course units is twenty (40 courses). History Joint Honours
Continuation in this academic plan requires a cumulative overall average of at least 60% and a cumulative History average of at least 75%.
Eligibility for graduation in the Joint Honours History academic plan includes successful fulfilment of the following requirements:
- Appropriate Program-level requirements for the Home Faculty, including at least 21 academic course units. If the Home Faculty is Arts, see "BA Degree Requirements."
- History Plan-level requirements:
- seven academic course units (14 courses) in History with a minimum cumulative average of 75%, including:
- one of HIST 262, 263, 264, 265
- one of HIST 253, 254
- one of HIST 257, 258
- at least two HIST courses at the 300-level, and no more than two at the 100-level
- two HIST senior seminars (1.0 unit each), one with a B suffix
- Plan-level requirements for the second Major.
Joint Honours History/Political Science, Specialization in International Relations and Global Governance
Continuation in this academic plan requires a cumulative overall average of 60% and a cumulative Major average of 75% in each of History and Political Science.
Eligibility for graduation in Joint Honours History/Political Science with a Specialization in International Relations and Global Governance includes successful fulfilment of the following requirements:
- Appropriate BA Program-level requirements, including 21 academic course units. See "BA Degree Requirements."
- Plan-level requirements:
- Joint Honours requirements as specified in both the History and Political Science academic plan sections of the Undergraduate Calendar with a minimum cumulative average of 75 % in each of History and Political Science
- Of the 14 academic course units (28 courses) required, 16 courses must be in International Relations and Global Governance including:
- all of HIST 111, 130; PSCI 281, 282
- three of HIST 102, 106, 220, 223, 226, 239, 258, 263, 389
- three of HIST 264, 265, 341, 351, 358, 372, 401A, 401B
- three of PSCI 250, 252, 253, 255, 257, 350A, 350B, 355, 438, 451, 453, 454, 485
- three of PSCI 357, 381, 382, 387, 432 (cross listed with ERS 404), 439, 456, 457, 458, 481, 483, 484, 486
History Minor
Students can obtain a Minor in History while enrolled in an Honours or a Four-Year General Major academic plan in Arts or an Honours academic plan in another faculty. Students from other departments and faculties who are interested in taking a Minor in History should consult with the Department of History Undergraduate Officer. Students must successfully complete:
- five academic course units (ten courses) in History with a minimum cumulative average of 65%, including:
- at least two HIST courses numbered above 250 and no more than two at the 100-level
