About the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences

Introduction
Printable Version Printable Version

The governing theme of the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences is the development of knowledge and programs related to health and well-being. Some programs are directed mainly at identifying practices that contribute to disease or enhance health, using the methods of epidemiology and biostatistics. Others focus on the physical activity, biological, behavioural and sociocultural mechanisms and processes that mediate health status and aging. The Faculty is also concerned with the study of leisure and cultural phenomena within their related environments and in the context of opportunities and practices integral to the well-being of groups and individuals.

The Faculty of Applied Health Sciences offers graduate programs for Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in the Departments of Kinesiology, Health Studies and Gerontology and Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in the Department of Recreation and Leisure Studies.

Further information about the master's and doctoral programs, collaborative programs, admission regulations and degree requirements can be found in the section on Academic programs (see Graduate Studies Calendar, Academic Regulations), or in the departmental sections as follows:
