Environment, Resources and Sustainability

Joint Honours Environment, Resources and Sustainability

Advisor: See Faculty of Environment undergraduate advising.

Students from other plans may choose a joint honours plan with Environment, Resources and Sustainability as their second major with appropriate departmental approval.

This joint plan requires a minimum cumulative major average of 70%.

Successful completion requires:

  1. 9.0 units distributed as follows:
    • ENVS 178 Environmental Applications of Data Management and Statistics
    • ENVS 195 Introduction to Environmental Studies
    • ENVS 200 Field Ecology
    • ERS 100 Foundations: Environment, Resources and Sustainability
    • ERS 101 Approaches: Environment, Resources and Sustainability
    • ERS 102 Sustainability and the Really Long View
    • ERS 201 Environmental Policy, Politics and Governance
    • ERS 202 Natural Resources Ecology
    • ERS 215 Environmental and Sustainability Assessment 1
    • ERS 300 Social Ecological Systems Analysis
    • ERS 301 Sustainability Thought, Practice and Prospects
    • ERS 400 Social-Ecological Approaches to Sustainability
    • ERS 401 Translational Ecology
    • One of the following two options:
    • 1.5 units: ENVS and/or ERS courses

Additional condition:

Students may substitute their home department’s equivalent senior honours essay, thesis, or senior seminar for ERS 403A and ERS 403B, with approval of the associate director, undergraduate studies, School of Environment, Resources and Sustainability.
