Honours Chemistry, Biobased Specialization is only available in the regular system of study.
This Specialization is delivered in partnership with the University of Bordeaux, in France, and includes the option of studying at the University of Bordeaux in Year Four fall term. Students interested in this option should consult with the academic advisor and be aware that their cumulative overall average should be higher than 60%.
Continuing in Honours Chemistry, Biobased Specialization requires a minimum cumulative overall average of 60% and a minimum cumulative Chemistry average of 60%.
Successful completion requires:
22.0 units distributed as follows:
- 12.25 CHEM units: CHEM 121, CHEM 121L, CHEM 125, CHEM 125L, CHEM 140, CHEM 200, CHEM 201, CHEM 212, CHEM 220, CHEM 220L, CHEM 221, CHEM 233, CHEM 233L, CHEM 240, CHEM 254, CHEM 264, CHEM 265, CHEM 265L, CHEM 301, CHEM 302, CHEM 313, CHEM 331, CHEM 339, CHEM 356, CHEM 479, CHEM 491A, CHEM 491B
- 0.5 BIOL unit: BIOL 130
- 1.0 MATH unit: MATH 127, MATH 128
- 1.5 PHYS units: PHYS 111 and PHYS 111L, or PHYS 121 and PHYS 121L; PHYS 112 and PHYS 112L, or PHYS 122 and PHYS 122L
- 6.25 elective units distributed as follows:
- 0.25 unit from: CHEM 250L, CHEM 313L
- 3.5 CHEM units from the list of program electives with the following additional restrictions:
- 1.0 unit chosen from lecture courses offered in the faculties of Arts or Environment
- 0.5 unit chosen from: AMATH, CO, MATH, PMATH, STAT
- 1.0 unit chosen from any 0.5 unit lecture or lab course
- 0.5 ENGL unit: ENGL 193/SPCOM 193
Additional condition:
A maximum of two failures in CHEM lecture courses is allowed. Failure in more than two CHEM lecture courses will result in the requirement to withdraw from the plan.
Notes
- Students choosing to study in France in Year Four fall should contact their academic advisor for information regarding permitted electives at the University of Bordeaux.
