Continuation in the Arts and Business academic plan requires a minimum cumulative average of 60%, a minimum cumulative average of 70% in Arts and Business courses, and a minimum cumulative honours major average of 70% (see Note 8) at the end of each academic term.
Eligibility for graduation in the Honours Arts and Business (co-op or regular) academic plan with an Arts honours major or in combination with Honours Liberal Studies includes successful completion of the following requirements:
- Appropriate program-level requirements. See Bachelor of Arts Degree Requirements.
- Arts and Business plan-level requirements:
- a minimum cumulative Arts and Business average of 70%
- seven academic course units (14 courses) in Arts and Business courses, including:
- ARBUS 101/AFM 131, ARBUS 102/AFM 123, ARBUS 200, ARBUS 202/PHIL 215, ARBUS 300, ARBUS 301/AFM 333, ARBUS 302/MGMT 244, ARBUS 303/MGMT 345, ARBUS 400
- ARTS 280 or a statistics course from the student's corresponding Arts major: ECON 221, PSCI 314, PSYCH 292, SDS 250R, SMF 230, SOC 280/LS 280 (see Note 9)
- ECON 101
- ENGL 210F (see Note 4)
- SPCOM 204 (see Note 5)
- one of HIST 113, HIST 243, PSCI 231
- Appropriate plan-level requirements for the student's honours academic plan. See the specific Arts honours major or Honours Liberal Studies section of this Calendar.
Notes
- Students must normally have a minimum cumulative overall average of 70% in their Honours Arts and Business courses at the end of the first term of Year One (1A) to remain in the Honours Arts and Business co-op academic plan.
- Students must normally have a minimum cumulative overall average of 70% in their Honours Arts and Business courses at the end of Year One to remain in the Honours Arts and Business regular academic plan.
- Students are required to declare an Arts honours major or Honours Liberal Studies prior to Year Two.
- Students wishing to take a different course in the ENGL 210 series should consult with the Arts and Business advisor.
- Students in the Honours Arts and Business academic plan majoring in Honours Communication Studies may replace SPCOM 204 by completing both SPCOM 100 and SPCOM 227.
- Upon successful completion of all Honours Arts and Business co-op curriculum requirements, including a minimum of four successful work terms, a student is granted a Bachelor of Arts degree in the Arts honours major discipline or in the Honours Liberal Studies academic plan with an Honours Arts and Business co-op designation.
- Upon successful completion of all Honours Arts and Business regular curriculum requirements, a student is granted a Bachelor of Arts degree in the Arts honours major discipline or in the Honours Liberal Studies academic plan with an Honours Arts and Business regular designation.
- Honours Liberal Studies students are required to maintain a minimum cumulative Faculty of Arts average of 70%.
- Students admitted to Arts and Business from other programs and faculties may substitute one of the following statistics courses: ENVS 278, GBDA 205, HLTH 204, KIN 232, REC 371, STAT 202, STAT 206, STAT 211, STAT 221, STAT 231, STAT 241.
