Centre for Extended Learning

The Centre for Extended Learning (CEL) supports the design, development, and delivery of online and non-credit courses for the University of Waterloo and offers professional and lifelong learning opportunities to the world.

Online Credit Courses and Programs

Waterloo offers approximately 500 online courses in many different subjects. It is possible to earn an undergraduate degree or diploma entirely online.

Students must be admitted to the University of Waterloo in order to register for online courses. No distinction in admission standards, grading practices, or promotion policies is made between those pursuing part-time or full-time study, on campus, or online. Students who do not meet the normal admission requirements may be considered for admission under the University's Mature Student Admission policy.

Part-Time Credit Courses and Programs

For certain programs, it is also possible to earn an undergraduate degree part-time. Students can attend on-campus classes during the day or evening or take online credit courses towards their degree.
