In the Doctor of Optometry (OD) academic plan, an overall 60% average as well as a grade of at least 60% in each course of the major subject must be obtained each term.
In OPTOM 348A/OPTOM 348B and OPTOM 458/OPTOM 468/OPTOM 478 a grade of at least 70% will be considered a passing grade. A student who fails to demonstrate clinical competence as evidenced by a failing grade in a clinical course will not be allowed to continue in the Doctor of Optometry academic plan. All courses must be successfully completed to proceed into the next academic year.
Notes
- Students enrolled in the Optometry program are required to make a self-declaration regarding any criminal convictions, cautions, or disciplinary proceedings for each subsequent year of their program (by August 31 of academic years two and three, and by April 1 of academic year four). This includes minor summary of offences, but not road traffic offences dealt with by the way of a fixed penalty notice. Note that other external clinics may require separate CRC reports. Failure to disclose any relevant information that is revealed subsequently may result in an investigation by the associate dean of science, undergraduate studies, and the revocation of the student's registration in the Doctor of Optometry Program.
- The final year will involve three terms, starting with the spring term following the third year winter term. The terms are a minimum of 15 weeks.
