The Three-Year General Science program allows students to pursue a broad range of Science subjects or focus, to a limited extent, in a particular Science subject area. Students graduate with a Bachelor of Science, Three-Year General Science degree. Minors can be attached to this degree where permitted.
Continuing in the Three-Year General Science program requires a cumulative overall average of 55% and a cumulative Science average of 55%.
Successful completion of this program requires:
15.0 units distributed as follows:
- 14.0 lecture units, which include:
- 1.0 Mathematics unit chosen from ACTSC, AMATH, CO, CS, MATH, PMATH, or STAT
- 6.5 Science units chosen from: BIOL, CHEM, EARTH, MNS, PHYS, or SCI courses with the following conditions:
- 1.0 unit must complete one Year One sequence
- 1.0 unit must complete a different Year One sequence
- 1.0 unit must be at the 300-level or higher, exclusive of SCI units
- 0.5 SCCOM unit: SCCOM 100
- 6.0 elective units chosen from any subject
- 1.0 Science lecture or lab unit, with the following condition:
- Lab units are normally associated with Year One sequences
Additional Program Condition:
- 7.5 lecture units must be at the 200-level or higher.
- Year One sequences are chosen from:
- A maximum of 3.0 SCI course units count towards the Science units.
- SCBUS courses do not count towards Science units.
- MATH 103 and SCI 237 do not count towards the degree.
- CS 100 and COMM and MTHEL courses do not count towards the Mathematics unit.
- A maximum of 1.0 lab unit counts towards the total units. Extra labs will be included in the average.
- General Science students completing their entire degree online should contact the academic advisor for information about completing the Communication Requirement (SCCOM 100).
