Continuation in the Science and Aviation program requires a cumulative overall average of 65% and a cumulative Science average of 65%. Flight training courses offered through the Waterloo Wellington Flight Centre (WWFC) are not included in any cumulative average calculations. Instead, students receive credit (CR) for each course they successful complete.

Successful completion of this program requires:

1. 21.0 units distributed as follows:
   • 10.0 Science elective units chosen from BIOL, CHEM, EARTH, or PHYS, with the following conditions:
     • 1.5 EARTH units: EARTH 121, EARTH 121L, EARTH 122, and EARTH 122L
     • 1.0 Year One lecture unit plus associated labs that complete a Year One sequence
     • Additional 0.5 unit, any level, if Year One lecture units do not have associated labs
     • 3.5 lecture units must be 200-level or higher
     • 3.5 lecture units must be 300-level or higher
   • 6.0 AVIA units: AVIA 100, AVIA 101, AVIA 102, AVIA 203, AVIA 204, AVIA 205, AVIA 306, AVIA 307, AVIA 310, and AVIA 408
   • 1.0 MATH unit: MATH 127 and MATH 128
   • 0.5 STAT unit: STAT 202
   • 0.5 CS unit: CS 100
   • 2.0 GEOG units: GEOG 181, GEOG 271, GEOG 281, and GEOG 309
   • 1.0 Program elective unit chosen from: AFM 131, any appropriate CS course, ENGL 210F, FR 151, GEOG 310, GEOG 371, GEOG 381, PHIL 145, PHIL 215, SCI 206, or SCI 238
2. Completion of the English Language Proficiency Requirement

1. AVIA 101, 102, 203, 204, 205, 306, 307 and 408 are the Professional Pilot Program flight training courses offered by and assessed through the WWFC. All other AVIA courses are offered and assessed by Waterloo.
2. The passing grade in each WWFC flight training course is 70%. Credit must be obtained in each course to progress to the next one. Normally, students can repeat each course only once, if there is a failed first attempt.
3. A maximum of 2.0 failed units is permitted for all Waterloo courses.
4. BIOL 101 does not count towards this program.

Notes

1. The following are Year One Science sequences: any pair of first year BIOL lectures plus associated labs; CHEM 120/CHEM 123 plus associated labs; or PHYS 111/PHYS 112 plus associated labs.
2. PHYS 121 and PHYS 122 plus associated labs (PHYS 121L, PHYS 131L, PHYS 122L or PHYS 132L) can be taken to satisfy a Year One Science sequence.
3. For students taking BIOL 130, BIOL 240 or BIOL 273, the corresponding lab components (BIOL 130L, BIOL 240L, and BIOL 273L) are recommended but not required.
4. Alternative Program electives may be substituted with permission from the program advisor.
