Professional Standing: The Academic Plan in Biochemistry fulfills the academic requirements for professional membership in the Chemical Institute of Canada (CIC).
Continuation in Honours Biochemistry/Biotechnology Specialization requires a cumulative overall average of 60% and a cumulative average of 60% in each of the subjects, Chemistry and Biology.
Successful completion of this program requires:
- 22.0 units that include:
- 6.0 BIOL units: BIOL 130, BIOL 130L, BIOL 239, BIOL 240, BIOL 240L, BIOL 241, BIOL 309, BIOL 331, BIOL 342, BIOL 354, BIOL 432, BIOL 439, and BIOL 443
- 7.75 CHEM units: CHEM 101, CHEM 120, CHEM 120L, CHEM 123, CHEM 123L, CHEM 140, CHEM 200, CHEM 212, CHEM 220, CHEM 220L, CHEM 233, CHEM 233L, CHEM 254, CHEM 264, CHEM 265, CHEM 265L, CHEM 331, CHEM 335L, and CHEM 357
- 1.0 MATH unit: MATH 127 and MATH 128
- 1.0 PHYS unit: PHYS 111 or PHYS 121; and PHYS 112 or PHYS 122
- 0.5 Program elective unit chosen from: STAT 202 or MATH 228
- 3.25 Program elective units distributed as follows:

Notes
- PHYS 111L or PHYS 121L should be taken in Year One if it counts as the 0.25 program lab unit.
- BIOL 273L or CHEM 250L should be taken in Year Two if it counts as the 0.25 program lab unit.
- CHEM 313L should be taken in Year Three Winter if it counts as the 0.25 program lab unit.
- CHEM 224L should be taken in Year Two Winter if it counts as the 0.5 program lab unit.
