The Three-Year General Science Program allows students to specialize to a limited extent in a particular subject area or to pursue a broad range of Science subjects. Students graduate with a Bachelor of Science, Three-Year General Science degree with no area of specialization designated. Minors can be attached to this degree, where permitted.
Continuation in the Three-Year General Science Program requires a cumulative overall average of 55% and a cumulative Science average of 55%.
Successful completion of this program requires:
- 15.0 units distributed as follows:
- 14.0 lecture units, with the following conditions:
- 1.0 MATH unit chosen from: ACTSC, AMATH, CO, CS, STAT, MATH, or PMATH
- 1.0 Year One Science lecture unit that completes a Year One sequence
- 1.0 Year One Science lecture unit that completes a different Year One sequence
- 4.5 Science units chosen from: BIOL, CHEM , EARTH, MNS, PHYS, or SCI courses, with the following conditions:
- 1.0 Science unit at the 300-level or higher, exclusive of SCI units
- 6.5 units at the 200-level or higher that can include:
- Units that satisfy the Math requirements
- Units that satisfy the Science requirements, except the 1.0 unit of 300-level or higher Science
- Any 100-level BIOL units, exclusive of BIOL 101, not used to satisfy a Year One sequence
- Lecture units taken to meet the 15.0 unit program total
- 1.0 lecture or lab Science unit, with the following condition:
- Lab units are normally associated with Year One sequences.
- Completion of the English Language Proficiency Requirement
Additional Program Conditions
- Year One sequence subjects are: BIOL, CHEM, EARTH and PHYS
- A maximum of 3.0 SCI course units course units count towards 7.5 Science units.
- SCBUS courses do not count as Science units.
- SCI 237, MATH 103, COMM or MTHEL courses do not count.
- BIOL 101 does not count as a Year One requirement.
- 1.0 lab unit maximum counts.
- A maximum of 5.0 failed units are allowed.
