Honours Major Academic Plans - Regular

Honours Biology

Advisors: Drs. S. Chuong, C. Dupont, K. Ma, B. Moffatt

Continuation in Honours Biology requires a cumulative overall average of 60% and a cumulative average of 60% in all Biology courses.

In order to graduate in the Honours Biology Academic Plan, the following requirements must be met:

  1. Successful completion of 21.5 units, except for the Animal Physiology Specialization which requires 21.75 units.
  2. Twelve courses (6.0 units) from the 300- and 400-level Biology courses.
  3. No more than 3.0 "SCI"-labelled units may be applied to these Academic Plans.
  4. Completion of the required courses, as described below.
  5. Completion of the English Language Proficiency Examination (ELPE).

Biology Specializations

All Honours Biology students, regular and co-op, take the same courses in Year One. Beginning in Year Two, students may pursue one of five specializations or remain unspecialized. A recommended Academic Plan of study is outlined for each specialization, although students may take the required courses in a different order.

Students may choose to specialize in:

  • Animal Physiology
  • Plant Biology
  • Microbiology
  • Molecular Biology and Biotechnology
