This program combines the Honours BSc Health Studies degree requirements with a specified grouping of elective courses from Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Biology, and Kinesiology.
This Specialization is intended to provide suitable preparation for entry into medical school and other health professional schools. However, students must consult the admission requirements of specific professional schools when choosing from the electives.
Admission to the Specialization requires at least good standing with an overall cumulative average of 75% (minimum) and a cumulative Major average of 75% (minimum). Students may only declare one Specialization. Students may declare the Health Informatics Option, Gerontology Minor or Option in Aging Studies concurrent with the Specialization. Students may not declare both the Pre-Health Professions Specialization and the Pre-Health Professions Option.
In order to graduate with this Specialization, the following requirements must be met:
- An overall cumulative average of 75% and cumulative Major average of 75%.
- Declare Specialization by the beginning of 3A academic term.
- Successful completion of 21.0 units, including all requirements of the Honours BSc Health Studies Degree.
- Successful completion 1.0 unit from the following list:
- 0.5 unit 4th year seminar course from HLTH 421, 448, 449, 451, 452, 461, 471, or a 473 approved by Associate Chair, Undergraduate Studies.
- 0.5 unit 4th year research methods course HLTH 433, 442, 444 or a HLTH course approved by the Associate Chair, Undergraduate Studies.
- Successful completion of 4.0 total units from the following list:
