Notes:
- Students may use only two English courses at the 100-level to fulfill the minimum English requirements. Some English courses do not fulfill the English Major requirements for a degree in English (see English Undergraduate Course Descriptions). Courses transferred from other institutions without a specific course designation (e.g., ENGL 2XX) may only be counted towards the English electives.
- Students who have taken ENGL 101 in 1980/81 or earlier will not be required to take ENGL 200A/B. If taken, it will not count as an English Major credit.
- ENGL 200A, 200B, 251A, 251B are strongly recommended for second year. If all four courses are not completed by the end of Year Two, they must be included in Year Three selection of courses, or the Department may refuse to grant approval of that selection of courses.
- Results from all English courses taken at UW are used to calculate the cumulative English average.
