Faculty of Applied Health Sciences

Academic Plans

Residency Requirement
All undergraduate degree plans in the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences have to be completed while meeting specific residency requirement guidelines. For Honours Health Studies, Honours and 4 year General Kinesiology programs and Honours Co-op Recreation and Leisure Studies programs, students must successfully complete all degree requirements within eight calendar years from the time students first enter their program.  For these AHS plans, students admitted with the equivalent of one year advanced standing must complete the Applied Health Sciences degree requirements in seven calendar years.  For those admitted with the equivalent of two years of advanced standing, the program degree requirements must be completed within six calendar years of entry into the plan.

Students in Honours Health studies, Honours and 4 year General Kinesiology programs and Honours Co-op Recreation and Leisure Studies programs must normally complete a minimum of 50% of their degree requirements while enrolled in full-time study (minimum 5.0 units per year) in their program. Normally, students in these plans must successfully complete 5.0 units at the end of year one, and similarly 10.0 units by the end of year two, 15.0 units by the end of year three, and 20.0 units at the end of year four. In addition, students must adhere to the course requirements for the specified year as defined in the "Course Sequence" within each plan in the Undergraduate Calendar.

Students in the Regular Honours and 4-year General Recreation and Leisure Studies program may complete their studies on a part-time basis.  Those students admitted to 1A must complete all degree requirements within 12 years of entry into the program.  Students admitted with one year or more of advanced standing must complete their degree within 10 years of point of entry.

For all undergraduate degree plans in the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences, a minimum of 50% of degree requirements must be completed through University of Waterloo courses.
