Sexuality, Marriage, and Family Studies

Sexuality, Marriage, and Family Studies - Overview

Sexuality, Marriage, and Family Studies (SMF) is an interdisciplinary area of study that would be of interest to anyone with questions about sexuality, marriage, and the family. It would be particularly relevant to those who intend to pursue, or are currently involved in, a career in health care, social services, counselling, therapy, or teaching.

Students may choose a Three-Year General Major (BA), a Four-Year General Major (BA), a Minor, an Honours Option, or a General Option. A Diploma in Sexuality, Marriage, and Family Studies is available for those who wish to do some focused study in this field, but who are either not seeking a university degree or already hold such a degree.

  2. Students are encouraged to discuss their electives with the SMF Director.
  3. PSYCH 236 can satisfy the SMF 204 requirement but credit will be given for only one of these courses.
