Three-Year General Philosophy
Continuation in this academic plan requires a cumulative overall average of 60% and a cumulative Philosophy average of 65%.
Eligibility for graduation in the Three-Year General Philosophy academic plan includes successful fulfilment of the following requirements:
- Appropriate BA Program-level requirements. See "BA Degree Requirements."
- Philosophy Plan-level requirements:
- at least five academic course units (ten courses) in Philosophy with a minimum cumulative average of 65%, including:
- PHIL 221
- one of PHIL 145, 216, 240, 341, 342, 440A, 440B, 441, 442
- two of PHIL 200A, 200B, 378, 380-386, 403-408
St. Jerome's Philosophy students must meet the basic requirements as listed above, and their PHIL courses must include:
- one of PHIL 145, 200J, 216, 240, 341, 342, 440A, 440B, 441, 442
- one of PHIL 218J, 221
- two of PHIL 200A, 200B, 378, 380-386, 403-408
Four-Year General Philosophy
Continuation in this academic plan requires a cumulative overall average of 60% and a cumulative Philosophy average of 68%.
Eligibility for graduation in the Four-Year General Philosophy academic plan includes successful fulfilment of the following requirements:
- Appropriate BA Program-level requirements. See "BA Degree Requirements."
- Philosophy Plan-level requirements:
- at least seven academic course units (14 courses) in Philosophy with a minimum cumulative average of 68%. These must include the courses required in the Three-Year academic plan.
Honours Philosophy
Continuation in this academic plan requires a cumulative overall average of 60% and a cumulative Philosophy average of 75%.
Eligibility for graduation in the Honours Philosophy academic plan includes successful fulfilment of the following requirements:
- Appropriate BA Program-level requirements. See "BA Degree Requirements."
- Philosophy Plan-level requirements:
- at least nine academic course units (18 courses) in Philosophy with a minimum cumulative average of 75%, including:
- PHIL 200A/200B, 221, 240, 322
- one of PHIL 216, 341, 342, 440A, 440B, 441, 442
- three from lists (A) and (B) below with at least one from each of (A) and (B):
(A) PHIL 255, 256, 355, 359, 363, 455, 456
(B) PHIL 258, 350, 362, 387, 470 - one of PHIL 378, 380-386, 403-408
- six PHIL courses at the 300- or 400-level, including at least three at the 400-level
St. Jerome's Philosophy students must meet the basic requirements as listed above, and their PHIL courses must include:
- PHIL 200A/200B, 240, 322, 450J
- one of PHIL 216, 341, 342, 440A, 440B, 441, 442
- one of PHIL 218J, 221
- one of PHIL 378, 380-386, 403-408
Honours Philosophy (Arts and Business Co-op and Regular)
A student may combine an Honours Philosophy academic plan with Arts and Business. The requirements in Philosophy are identical to the Honours requirements listed above except that only eight academic course units (16 courses) in Philosophy are required. See the Arts and Business requirements.
Philosophy Joint Honours
A Joint Honours academic plan with Philosophy may be taken in combination with most Arts disciplines in which an Honours academic plan is offered, or with many Honours majors in other Faculties. See the department for the most recent list of approved combinations.
Continuation in this academic plan requires a cumulative overall average of 60% and a cumulative Philosophy average of 75%.
Eligibility for graduation in the Joint Honours Philosophy academic plan includes successful fulfilment of the following requirements:
- Appropriate Program-level requirements for the Home Faculty, including at least 20 academic course units. If the Home Faculty is Arts, see "BA Degree Requirements."
Note: In practice, depending on the number of units required by the second discipline (e.g., overall and for the major) and the number of electives that students choose to take, more than 20 academic course units may be necessary for graduation.
- Philosophy Plan-level requirements:

Students registered at St. Jerome's in a Philosophy Joint Honours academic plan may substitute St. Jerome's Philosophy courses in the same way as for the Philosophy Honours academic plan.
Philosophy Minor
The Philosophy Minor requires successful completion of a minimum of five academic course units (ten courses) in Philosophy with a minimum cumulative average of 65%, including:
- no more than three PHIL courses at the 100-level
