The School of Social Work, Renison College, University of Waterloo offers a unique post-BA Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree in two program streams. The Regular Stream is a full-time, ten-month program designed for BA graduates with the appropriate prerequisite social work and social science foundation courses. The Alternate Stream offers the same curriculum on a part-time basis over three years and is designed for BA graduates with the appropriate prerequisite courses and work experience in the social services. The program prepares generalist social work practitioners to provide service to a broad range of populations at all systems levels through a combination of academic courses and a field practicum of 720 hours.
The BSW program is accredited by the Canadian Association of Schools of Social Work. Graduates are eligible for registration under the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers and are eligible for membership in the Ontario Association of Social Workers. Graduates are employed in every province in Canada and elsewhere.
