Admission Requirements
In order to be considered for admission, applicants MUST meet the following criteria:
- The completion of a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree from an accredited Social Work program. If an applicant’s BSW degree is from a country other than Canada, the applicant is required to show proof that their degree is recognized as being equivalent to a Canadian Bachelor of Social Work Degree.
- Minimum 75% grade point average (GPA) in the final two years of study (equivalent to last 20 half-credit courses).
- The successful completion of one full-course equivalent in Research Methodology and Statistics; that is, a half course in Research Methodology and a half course in Statistics, or one full course which includes both. There is no specific minimum mark requirement.

Degree Requirements
One Year (Full-Time) and Two Year (Part-Time) MSW degree requirements:
The Master of Social Work (MSW) program has a course-based curriculum, which includes a degree requirement of 6 required courses (4 online courses and 2 week-long, on-campus summer block courses, called Summer Institutes, one in August at the beginning of the program and one in July or August (TBD) at the end of the program), 2 online elective courses, plus one practicum of 462 hours minimum and one integration seminar. Four milestones include the Academic Integrity Workshop, the Practicum, Integration Seminar and the Seminar Presentation (Capstone). The four milestones are all graded credit/non-credit.
All students in the Full-Time and Part-Time MSW degree must complete all credits at a minimum 75% overall average including the compulsory and elective credits required in order to graduate from the program.
Field Education
Students should note that the program includes a field education experience component of at least 462 hours (minimum of two 7-hour days per week) in an approved agency (normally other than the student’s place of employment), as well as a Field Integration Seminar. The student must obtain passing credit in both the agency practicum and the Field Integration Seminar.

Note: Students choose only two electives. One of the electives must be either SWK 608R or SWK 609R.
