The graduate program in Applied Mathematics leads to two degrees, the M.Math. in Applied Mathematics, either by thesis, or by course work, and the Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics. The graduate program has two major goals:
- to prepare people for a career in research and teaching in an academic institution,
- to provide people with the analytical skills and intellectual discipline needed to formulate and solve problems in the changing environments of industry, business and government.
The graduate program is based on the belief that a strong foundation in mathematics, both theoretical and computational, is essential for achieving these goals.
