The MEng is an ideal option for the new graduate looking to quickly specialize in a competitive job market, the new Canadian seeking new skills and credentials from a leading Canadian University or the industry professional who is thinking about accelerating his or her career. The MEng program allows you to gain new skills and credibility to help you engineer your future. The Program is designed with the professional in mind and is based on industry relevant course work.
The MEng Program in Electrical and Computer Engineering focuses on advanced background education and skill development. A student who graduates from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering with an MEng degree will have a strong theoretical background and development skills which are appropriate both for the anlysis and design of industrial systems.
A minimum of 8 courses is required to earn the degree. You may take more courses to earn additional Certificates or expand your knowledge in areas of interest.
The minimum period of full-time registration for the MEng degree is two terms and the maximum allowable time is six terms of active registration. For part-time students, the minimum period of registration for the MEng degree is six terms and the maximum allowable time is fifteen consectutive terms.
Admission Requirements
Admission requirements for the MEng program are the same as admission requirements for the MASc program and include:
- An Honours Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) with at least a B+ standing (78%)
- Two letters of reference (on forms provided in application package), at least one of which must be from academic sources
- Proof of competency in English (if applicable). (See Academic Regulations - English Language Proficiency Certification for other acceptable tests of English)

Degree Requirements
This MEng option requires completion of eight one-term courses (0.5 unit weight) acceptable for credit by the Department. Students may take additional courses to satisfy requirements for the Graduate Certificates in Electrical and Computer Engineering (MEng Program).
