The Department is able to offer some graduate teaching assistantships to full-time graduate students who have the appropriate academic standing on completion of their undergraduate work. Assignment of graduate students to individual faculty members is not arranged until the beginning of the Fall term to ensure that students will be able to work in areas related to their own interests.
The Walrus Award has been established and is financed by a group of former graduate students in this department who have named it to commemorate a student group of the time. It is awarded annually to one current graduate student in our program, based upon considerations of financial need and academic standing.
In addition to the above, the Faculty of Arts awards a number of scholarships and bursaries to students with superior records. Students are automatically considered for these awards when they are admitted to the graduate program in Political Science at the University of Waterloo.
