Classical Studies

Research Areas

Areas of Research

The Master of Arts in Classical Studies is a multifaceted program that focuses on all aspects of the Classical World. The department strongly believes in ensuring that every student receives a breadth of knowledge and educational experiences that will allow them to pursue research in an interdisciplinary manner. As witnessed in our faculty pages, we have expertise in all areas of philology, history, material culture (art history and archaeology), literature and cultural studies on both the Greek and Latin/Roman sides. Any potential student will easily find a supervisor for their own particular area of interest. Having said that, the department has the largest concentration in Canada of scholars working in the field of Hellenistic studies (literature, history, material culture) and so any student with any interest in the Classical cultures during this time period would be well suited and well served for study with us.
